Seized Turkish daily ‘now pro-government’

Turkish police raided Zaman, the nation’s largest newspaper, on Friday, hours after a court ruling placed it under government control. What was once an independent news organization that was critical of the government has turned into a propaganda mouthpiece for the AK Party.

The front page of Sunday’s edition of Zaman, the first under state ownership, beared an image of Turkey’s President Erdogan and the headline “Historic excitement about the bridge”. The article said the president will lay the last part of a third bridge across the Bosphorus that is close to completion.
